As the’ mother myth’ is begining to break down and the woman have become self confident and highly qualified by the idea of balancing the demands of their careers and private lives. There is an increase in the number of working mothers which is the reason why toddlers are being sent to the crèches. The disintegration of the joint family system , the working parents who don’t have any choice but to send their children to crèches is the reason why creches are cropping up in the city . Finding place in these crèches which provide good care, homely atmosphere, security has indeed become bete noire of hundreds of young parents. However the selection of the crèches depends upon seven factors ;the family ,financial status, proximity to the residence, space available, ambience, cleaniness , fees charged ,facilities offered and general aesthetics . at Khalsa college Ritu sood says that “I used to leave the child with her grandmother but she was not getting proper care and growth was also slow so I heard about this crèche and sent her there and she is growing properly and her nature has also changed as before coming to crèche she had become stubborn Another creche ,crèche cum nursery school named Holy angels at Vikas nagar has 25 children and admits children starting from one and half to three and half yrs They charge 750to 850per child depending on the hours the child is left with them. The owner of the crèche Mrs Harry says “we started this crèche in 1992 with 15 children . we don’t take children less come they are playing in toy room ready to go with them .The nannies are trained to do all the chores for the infants they warm the milk before giving it to the child and toilet train them .than one and half yrs child as such a small kid is difficult to handle says she “the parents drop their child at 8 o, clock and picks them up at 2;30 in summers and 3;30in winters we see that the child is comfortable and gets food in time which is provided by the parents. There are 3 nannies which take care of the babies .the children are kept in discipline so that they don’t face problems when they are of an age for the nursery they are trained to have milk on time, sleep on time and when the parents When talking to parents the responses were mixed some were happy with the crèches but others gave a opposite response . Dr Sanjeev Gupta is all praise for the crèche holy angels , in which his 2yr9 month daughter Mansi gupta is sent. Says he” my wife is also working and we cant leave her anywhere so this crèche solved our problems. we leave the child at 8oclockand pick her up 3;30 she was sent to the crèche at the age of one and a half yr old and since then we don’t have anyproblem .The enviournment is congenial the crèche is clean and spacious and she is taken good care the child. Even her birthday was also celeberated there .She has become smart and mixes well with the children there .Another couple Sanjeet aggarwal and Ritu’s child Saksham goes to the same crèche they laments that” before talking him to this crèche she was sent to another crèche he doesn’t want to name that crèche where care was not given hygiene was not to talk about and even the nannies were not wearing clean clothes then somebody told me about this crèche and now we are satisfied with their services . But there is a negative side also .Most working mothers prefer creche but some are far from satisfied with the facilities provided by them says a “school teacher pooja. Most crèches are overcrowded with little space for children to move around. Another teacher says I used to send my son to a nearby crèche but he has started throwing tantrums. I think he needs more attention . Bholeshwar prasad Mishra reader and psycologist at Dayanand Medical college&Hospital feels that it is due to the lack of care, attention and affection in the crèche that brings problems He says.first of all I don’t suggest that parents should send their children to the crèche but as the working mothers have increased there is no option left for them but to take help of the crèches .Says he “the crèches should be chosen with care the parents should make a personal visit to the crèche and should not depend on here say they should scrutinize everything about the place the cleaniness, ventilation, no of children enrolled, the crèche has basic facilties like refridgerator ,cooking gas, room heater, filtered water ,generator, comfortable furniture besides books games toys for children and for older children there should been entertainment provision like cartoons and children films etc , the nannies should be well dressed in clean clothes messy dirty clothes can lead to infection there should be doctor around to administer medical care to the children if the need arises. says he” the owner of the crèche should know child psychology and the lady should be mature who can understand the needs of the child . As every good thing has minuses and pluses so has crèches too. I have many cases where the child becomes smart, well mannered but sometimes the child becomes stubborn and aggressive says he “this happens when there is the problem in home or crèche. May be the crèche environment and the home of the child is mismatched the child may be bought from the upper middle class family and the environment of the crèche may not be the same. Sometimes the child is not given attention by the parents when he is back home. He starts weeping time to time and does it to harass the parents he is punishing the parents for not paying attention to him.. when such cases come to me I train the mother to understand the Childs psychology and give the child enough time while at home. “ When the parents are spending so much money for their children the crèches should also provide best facilities to their children
